Each person is an individual and we strive to provide supports tailored to each person according to their needs. Some of these dreams include the opportunity to express themselves in a performing role, to be recognised as an artist, to move out of current accommodation and get their own home and to connect to a community where they feel part of a family. With the introduction of the NDIS, our focus shifted to supporting Deaf, hard of hearing and non-verbal people with understanding the NDIS, and working with them towards their goals and dreams. Our aim has always been to foster understanding between the Deaf and the wider community and to build links. This encourages the wider community with no Auslan skills, to draw on their imagination regarding how to communicate to Deaf and hard of hearing people. We developed an App and a series of Dictionary videos, using iconic signs, rather than Auslan. Some of these have been used in tertiary institutions to encourage the learning of Auslan by the wider community, and by the Indigenous community to promote awareness of their culture and history. This resulted in hundreds of videos being produced. It was originally set up in 2008 as a video production company with the vision of providing videos and resources online, to encourage Deaf people with limited language to improve their language and communication skills. Signpedia is a Deaf-owned company with a Deaf Director and a Deaf CEO.
